the recipe project
I've recently been intrigued by the idea of "cooking music" mixes - it's obviously not new, but lately I've realized that when I listen to the Beatles while making lemon chicken and my favorite lemon bow-tie pasta, everything tastes better!
There's a fun "cooking time" mix by Stereomood, which includes songs by Little Dragon, David Bowie and other new-to-me artists. For full downloads of cooking or food-oriented mixes, I'm loving these recipe mixtapes from Turntable Kitchen.
Today, however, I stumbled upon what could either be the best of both worlds or something terribly annoying. Imagine: recipes from your favorite celebrity chefs IN SONG. The Recipe Project features recipes for pickled pumpkin, octopus salad with black-eyed peas, and shrimp remoulade and more, all sung in step-by-step fashion.
The cool part about the project is that it's actually a CD-book combo, including fun facts about famous chefs and food writers and discussion about their music tastes and muses. It's definitely something worth browsing. The Recipe Project is set to release October 15.

This is annoying! The music is lame and I don't understand how anybody would cook to this. The only thing that is cool are the graphics in the video, especially the noodle frog (I like that). Anyway, just give me the recipe in simple English written on plain white paper. I'll provide my own background music, thank you very much!
