echo street coffee
A few months ago, I visited Echo Street Coffee, on the corner of Echo and Weldon Ave. (formerly known as Java Wava). They have really delicious sandwiches, friendly service, but unusual hours. In fact, they close at 4:00 p.m. every day. Is that normal for a “neighborhood” café? I know nothing about the business of keeping a restaurant open, except that I always hear it’s a lot of hard work. Maybe you have to make hard decisions like that in order to best serve your regular customers and keep the business going?
Here’s a quick background on Echo Street: It was Java Wava, then Echo Street under new ownership, and then under new ownership again, keeping the Echo Street name. Now, I don't know much about Echo Street Coffee right after the first transition (read that review, if you like), but I wonder if anyone’s been there lately? Have you tried their vegetarian fare? Should they focus on the surrounding neighborhood or try and serve customers like Fresno City students by keeping later hours?
Editor's note: We learned January 2011 that Echo Street Coffee is closing their doors. We wish that corner and all former owners the best for the future!

Great service, above average food and they have wi-fi.
I dig ESC a lot. It's intimate and a great place to read, people watch
or play chess.

I stopped in a few mornings ago for coffee. I really wish I had more time to linger there; it's a very comfy, welcoming place. Coffee was really good. I didn't get to try food, but it sounded great.

I know this was posted a while back, but I recently went to Echo Street Coffee for the first time. I got a bagel and a White Mocha. Great little place. Very nice atmosphere with pleasent customer service.

I hadn't been in a few months, but when the weather was nice my daughter and I would ride our bikes there and have bagels and hot chocolate. Loved seeing the local artists featured on their walls. Sorry to hear they didn't make it.

I think ESC would be an awesome name for a new tech based cafe at that location.
