The last time I went to the Standard, I said, "never again." A girl with a tight, way-too-short white dress got in a fight with another girl over some jerk, and as I was leaving, I got pushed around by bouncers and random guys checking out...ew. Anyway, when I heard about the Standard giving away free burgers a few weeks ago and lobster croquettes last week, I thought, hmm, maybe they're starting something new.
Rumor has it that although the owner (Steve Bisla, see his LinkedIn profile) is trying to appeal to a different, more "friendly" crowd. In fact, every Thursday they're giving away FREE FOOD to show that they're friendly, too.
I am okay with that.
Plus, if you were at the Beehive's Birthday VI, you may have even won a gift card from them at our TasteFresno table.
Free chicken wings, anyone? Go and taste them (no charge) anytime from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. tomorrow at the Standard and see for yourself if the food is good (I've heard it's surprisingly delicious) and the crowd is cool.
Today they released a video of the Central Valley Peach Shooter. The bartender's name is Luke. Ask for him, if you want to appear in the 'know. The recipe sounds pretty yummy.
So what do think? Can they really change their image? What should they do to entice YOU to go? I don't know about you, but I really don't want to see another local restaurant go. Let's help them out.
