Fresno is fortunate be surrounded by local producers like Fresno State, Bravo Farms (mmm...cheese!), Lula’s Chocolate’s, and...wait for it...PaPaw’s Killer BBQ Sauce!
We’re getting a chance to taste it all tomorrow at the Whole Foods Market Vendor Fair from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., where tables will be set up throughout the store. Come out and get some great deals on local items from Tahoe Creamery Ice Cream, The Ginger People, Max’s Bakery, Eggman Family Honey and so many others. This is a great way to support the Fresno region and maybe even win fun prizes just for stopping in to eat samples of delicious food.
I found this Bacon Wrapped Shrimp recipe from PaPaw’s Killer BBQ Sauce, so support our friends from Lemoore by picking up a bottle and grilling up some appetizers for your next BBQ:
Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
Partially fry the bacon, leaving it flexible so that you can wrap it around the shrimp. Before wrapping the shrimp with the bacon, baste the shrimp with some of PaPaw’s BBQ Sauce, wrap the shrimp with the bacon and baste the bacon wrapped shrimp again with some more BBQ Sauce. Put on flat pan and put in oven broiler for approximate 5-10 minutes or until BBQ Sauce crystallizes. Makes real tasty appetizers. (Donna Dutra’s recipe)
New Learning Experience: Vermicomposting Class 11:00 a.m.
For those of you who have heard all the rage about Vermicomposting, Whole Foods Market is offering a class on their patio tomorrow. Here are the details:
Vermicomposting is just as important to our planet as recycling, reducing, and reusing and is easy to do. Join Naomi Hendrix, Urban Worm Farmer, as she shares her vast knowledge of vermiculture, the how to's, and what not-to-do's. Naomi will show examples of items that most people throw away for the landfield that could actually help the environment by feeding it to worms turning it into "Black Gold" an excellent, nutrient-rich organic fertilizer and soil conditioner. Please register at Whole Foods Market or email me@naomihendrix.com. Worm Bin kits will be provided to those who pre-register with Naomi.
