Mike Oz posted most of this information yesterday over at the Beehive, but if you missed that, it's likely that you have heard about the Central California Rib Cook Off happening later this month in downtown Fresno. But it's supposed to be kind of a big deal.
Here's the skinny:
Yep, you read that right. It's free to get in, but we're guessing that there's a cost for the food. (We're also guessing it's worth that cost, because good ribs can be hard to come by.)
From the flyer:
The ribbers will be representing states such as Illinois, Arkansas, Texas, Ohio and the International Champion from Australia. They will be selling ribs as well as all the other BBQ fixins for the public to eat and enjoy.
The Water Tower Car Show will feature all types of cars, motorcycles and bikes. This nine category exhibition will take place on Friday night and the competition on Saturday.
This fun kid’s area will include face painters, bounce houses and carnival rides and games. The movie G.I. Joe will also be shown on Friday night at Movies in the Park.
On Saturday night KSEE 24 will be hold the finals of its summer long Fresno’s Got Talent Competition. The five weekly winners will perform on stage to hopefully increase their votes. The winner will be selected by text vote with the winning announcement taking place the following Tuesday.
There you go. If it wasn't on your calendar (and, how could it have been?), make the necessary arrangements to come get your rib on. Or rib-off. Er, you get the idea.
