Time to 'fess up.
You take the "occasional" break at work (they're mandatory, after all…), clicking around the web looking at obscene photos. Of food. You probably have your favorite…ahem…sources, but if you're not following Food Porn Daily (FPD), you're missing out. Seriously, it'll make you salivate.
Go ahead, take a minute to see what I'm talking about. Here are a few posts whet your appetite:
» Gooey Rich Chocolate and Cheesecake Swirl Brownie
» Linguica and Black Bean Soup with Mango Salsa
» Eggs Benedict with Truffle Hollandaise, Canadian Bacon and Sauteed Spinach on an English Muffin
Hungry yet? Can you imagine if FPD published a cookbook? Ah, I suppose the photos at the top of the post spoiled the surprise: they did!
We've got one with your name on it.
The thing is, we're on a hunt for cookbooks ourselves. We're looking for cookbooks that have local ties—maybe they were published locally, or supported a local organization (spiral binding never hurt no one), or highlight local flavors. You don't have to give us an actual cookbook, just point us in the right direction.
The fine print:
Easy enough, right?

Awesome - thanks Jason! How often do they put these out?

I believe this was their first one (if it wasn't then I've missed the announcement every year past).
Local Realtors were asked to submit recipes for it. All the proceeds are going to Community Food Bank.

Our family did a cookbook this past year filled with fantastic Croatian recipes, etc. I'll have to check around to see if we have any extra copies....we printed far more than our family members and they went FAST! There is also another one put out by the St. Peter's Serbian Orthodox Church here in Fresno that is fantastic. I'll check with my Mom to see if she can get a "hook up" for you.

Dana, I LOVE the idea of a family cookbook!
What are some of the key ingredients/flavors in Croatian cooking?
dmzlucka | Fri, 2010-11-19 11:32
Garlic and olive oil but the area where my family is from is the Dalmatian coast so fish is KING (my Grandfather was a fisherman in the "old country" and later owned a wholesale fish business in San Pedro, CA) and that is followed by lamb (since so self-respecting cow can survive those rocky hills). What ever is cooked is washed down with generous amounts of wine (the Croatian coast is where the DNA for Zinfandel came from). This time of year, we're making more sweets so I'll post a few soon. See also: http://dalmatiankitchen.com/recipes/index.cfm, http://dalmatiancooking.com/seafood/bakalar-christmas-cod/ If you move the inland regions, you'll find more pork but I still eat like a "native" :-)

American Culinary Federation Chef's Association of San Joaquin Valley cookbook - I have a copy I could lend, but I don't want to give up "Bacon-wrapped prawns stuffed with Dungeness crab" permanently!
