So, you may have heard of Creative Fresno's series of Bartender Challenges, which pit area creatives against each other in (friendly) competition for tips, with all proceeds going to fund murals. Travis Sheridan, Mike Oz—even the mayor—have competed.
Somehow, my name made it onto a flyer, and tomorrow night I'll battle good friend and downtown neighbor Kiel Famellos-Schmidt.
Here's the deal: this is all for fun and fundraising, but when people step up to the bar, they're going to want a drink. And I haven't tended bar in years. So...I'm asking for help.
Specifically, I'm looking for drink recipes. Easy is best, and any tie (or hint thereof) to a local ingredient is even better. I also need fun names, but that's within my realm of capabilities.
If you have a winner (remember, I'm competing with Kiel), please share. Post it here, email me, send me a carrier pigeon—I need it in time to start praticing.
Also, don't forget to come have a drink!

When Tim Stearns did the challenge he made a drink called The Fresnovator (I think). It was essentially a vodka tonic, made with pepper-infused vodka (I think). It was the best drink I've ever had. Track that recipe down and you will be a winner.

Thanks Josh - I'll see if I can track down Tim's recipe and the special ingredient!

It is peach season, so why not a peach cocktail? Rum, oj/pineapple juice, peach schnapps, and a splash of dark rum on top. Call it the YayFresno! If you have time, slice up some local peaches to rest on the lip...

Genius! I think I'll try just that.
