I've talked with several people lately about the concept of a local food culture. I can feel momentum: several individuals and groups are emerging—each with a unique idea or vision, but all with a desire to embrace and explore what we have here in Fresno and the Valley. And how it tastes.
Somehow in all of these conversations I talked Joe Moore, station manager at KFSR, into letting me host a radio show focused on food and wine, an idea originally crafted between Joe, Tim Stearns of the Lyles Center and Klaus Tenbergen of Fresno State's culinology department. With Bob Wample, former chair of Fresno State's Department of Viticulture and Enology, we recorded an initial pilot, which aired this morning. The show will continue running on Sundays at 10:00 a.m.
Okay, here's where I offer a warning: my peers are far more experienced than me in communicating over the airwaves, and far more eloquent in their speech. I thank them for their patience and guidance.
So with that lengthy introduction, I give you, The Flavors of the Valley, Episode I, feauring Chef Vatche from Cracked Pepper Bistro
We're mapping out the next several episodes, and I welcome any comments or feedback, especially if you have suggestions about potential guests. Leave them in the comments, or shoot me an email. Thanks for listening!
