Another weekend full of good food. I missed the celebrations and events around town—did you make it out to any?
Drinks and dinner with the wifey at Piazza Del Pane. Service was a little slow, but the food was good. The drinks and the patio were even better.
I spent the day in Berkeley at INNAJam, learning how to make my friend Dafna's jalapeño jam.

I made it back just in time for dinner with friends: grilled sausage with homemade sauerkraut (my first batch), fresh okra, and an assortment of cheeses to pair with that jalapeño jam. For dessert: grilled bananas with honey, ice cream and homemade fudge.
On the drive back to Fresno, I also stopped at Hot City Barbecue to pick up a pound of smoked tri-tip. Because it's that good.
I met up with Tracy, Bryan and Andrew at KMK Organic Farms in Kingsburg to shoot footage for a new season of Taste of the Valley.

Have you tried their Kingsburg Gold tomatoes? Yum.
After shooting, we drove in to Kingsburg for to debrief and refuel. Corsaros Family Pizza was the first open spot we saw, so we took a chance. We were pleasantly surprised.
Did you try something new? Did you participate in Slow Food's $5 Challenge?
What did you eat?

My family went to Antonio's this weekend for my bday. It was a challenge to find a decent local place for 20-25 people on a budget (I would have loved to have gone to Pane, but it was just slightly too much for everyone). Antonio's had a great space in the back for us.
Unfortunately, my dad found a small piece of HARDWARE in his enchilada! Like a bolt or something. There was no real apology nor did the manager come out to say anything (or comp the meal). The waitress asked if he wanted another plate (obviously), but then the next dish of enchiladas had a small STICK in it!
It was a disappointing experience, to say the least!

Unbelieveable! Where's the health department when you need them?

I've found a toothpick in my ice cream (free ice cream for a year) and a piece of tile in my chicken parm (2 free meals). As far as my eating adventures this weekend.. Haggis, steak & mushroom pie, sausage roll, and Welsh cakes, all from the Highland Games, I also made fish cakes for the first time.

Oh man...I'd be so upset. That warrants a terrible Yelp review if you get around to it.
Plans for end summer/early fall include hosting Meat-A-Palooza...I'll send some invites out your way for sure.
