Organic Fair Trade
This coffee is shade grown at 1800 to 2200 meters in the Santa Theresa District of Peru. Ccochepampa is considered one of the best coffees of the region. Like many stories of Fair Trade coffee, the growers of this coffee really struggled before becoming fair trade and building a coop. By joining together in a Cooperativa the members have been successful in improving their own lives as well as improving the coffee produced. They also increase public awareness of the producers in organic and sustainable production.
This coffee stood out to me immediately with a deep rich cup. Big on flavor with smooth semi-sweet chocolate flavor, medium body. I didn’t note much acidity and found a hint of nutty earthiness.
