Posted by alisamanjarrez on Feb 01, 2010

Ingredients

  • 1 french baguette
  • extra-virgin olive oil, to spread
  • 8 oz. goat cheese
  • 2 T minced chives
  • 1 tsp. grated orange zest
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic
  • 2 T. minced basil
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • honey (preferably orange blossom honey)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Cut baguette into 1/2 inch slices and brush with olive oil.

Mix goat cheese with chives, orange zest, garlic, basil and pepper. Evenly spread cheese mixture on all slices of bread. Place in oven for 10 minutes.

Drizzle with warmed honey and serve.

Note: Cheese spread may be prepared up to 2 hours ahead of serve time. You might want to plan for each person to have about 3 slices each.

These sound delicious! I'll be making them Friday for our "dinner." We just do wine, cheese, bread, fruit etc. for Friday dinners.

Let me know how they turn out! They're perfect for a wine & cheese "dinner," which sounds like a great Friday tradition, by the way :)

It's funny - I was reading through the ingredients, thinking about how good honey would be. Then, there it was, right at the bottom of the list!
