This is a variation on a pie I won an award with at the Fresno Fair. My original recipe also calls for butterscotch morsels (which I left out for a friend's birthday pie).
I also have toyed with the idea of substituting almonds for pecans, and adding toasted coconut to make an Almond Joy pie...
Walnuts are also good for a more "chocolate chip cookie" taste...
1 unbaked pie crust
1/2 stick melted butter
2 TBSP flour
1 cup corn syrup (dark or light)
3 beaten eggs
1/4 cup brown sugar (dark or light)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup extra dark chocolate chunks
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 375
place pecans and chocolate into unbaked pie shell
mix butter, flour, corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, and salt til well mixed.
Pour liquid mixture into pie shell.
Bake for 45 to 55 minutes (til knife inserted in center comes out clean).
