Cake Balls!

A co-worker introduced Cake Balls to me. Albeit the name is pretty silly, these things are seriously tasty. You only need one or two, because they are really rich. Also, you want to be sure that you don't make the balls too big. Small and bite size is the way to go! Have fun mixing cake and frosting combos, you can come up with something new every time.

Ingredients

1 Box of Cake Mix and required ingredients

1 can of frosting

2-3 16oz bag of white/milk chocolate chips

**For the cake and frosting combo, you can mix any combination. My favorite is Red Velvet cake and Cream Cheese frosting.**

Instructions

So I cheat a bit and use a cake mix and pre-made frosting on this recipe.

But, bake the cake according to instructions in a 9x13 pan and let it cool.

Once the cake is cooled, break the cake up into a bowl and mix until the cake is really crumbly.

Then mix in the frosting a little bit at a time until the mixture has a nice moisture to it.

One all mixed together, we need to chill the mixture for a few hours or overnight.

Then I use a tablespoon to scoop out the Cake Balls and place them on a cookie sheet lined with foil.

Once all the cake balls are scooped, it is time to melt the chocolate.

Depending on your preference, you can either dip the balls in the chocolate or drizzle them with the chocolate.

After the chocolate has been applied, keep the cake balls refrigerated until time to serve.

Enjoy!

I also make these - everyone LOVES them. I call them cake truffles, though; people are much more impressed with that name ;) A few weeks ago, I tried German Chocolate for my dad's birthday. Delish! I used 2/3 of German Choclate cake frosting and 1/3 of the cream cheese frosting - it's a better "glue."
Have you tried them with cookies? Oreos are a complete hit, but the Nutter Butter were not. lol For cookie truffles, I used cream cheese (NOT cream cheese frosting); same concept.
