My co-worker (and former boss) is a foodie, and she served a delicious flank steak appetizer at her Christmas party this year. This was the marinade she used for the steak.
The appetizer was a baguette slice coated with feta cheese, topped with a slice of flank steak and a basil leaf.
The marinade can be used in a hurry (if you've only got an hour or so), but it's best if the meat can rest overnight.
