Prince of Whales Cake

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup Crisco
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 2 egg yolks
• 1 cup sour milk
• 1 3/4 cups flour
• 1 1/2 Tbsps. baking powder
• 1/4 tsp. salt
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• 1 /2 tsp. cloves
• 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
• 2 egg whites
• 1/2 cup applesauce (optional)
• 1/2 cup dates (optional)

Instructions

Mix all ingredients, except for egg whites, together. Beat egg whites until stiff; fold into mixture. Bake at 350° until set.
