Chocolate Drops

Ingredients

2 2-oz. squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. salad oil
1-1 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg
1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts

Instructions

Melt chocolate in top of large double boiler or mixing bowl over hot water. Remove from heat and blend in oil and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Sift flour with soda and salt; stir into chocolate mixture. Add nuts and mix thoroughly. Chill about 1 hour. Drop tsps. of dough onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 13 minutes. Cool and frost if desired.
