Cranberry Relish

Posted by Moral Threat on Nov 24, 2009

Having never been a fan of the traditional "Can-'O-Cranberries" dish at Thanksgiving/Christmas I searched for a recipe that was similiar to what Mimi's Restaurant serves with their turkey dinner, which has to me always been the best cranberry relish I've ever had. This one comes pretty close in my opinion.

Ingredients

2 cups washed raw cranberries
2 skinned and cored tart apples
1 large, whole (peel ON) seedless orange, cut into sections
1 to 2 cups granulated sugar (depending on how sweet you would like your relish to be)

Instructions

I've heard of people using an old fashioned meat grinder to chop this up, but not having that I used a blender.  I had to do a little at a time, as a large amound necessitated the blender to be turned on longer and it started to become a mush.  Mince setting works best.

Mix in the sugar. Let sit at room temperature until sugar dissolves, about 45 minutes. Store in the refrigerator.

Makes about 3 cups.
