Marinated Cole Slaw

From my former mother-in-law.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head cabbage, shredded finely
  • 1 large Bermuda onion, sliced
  • ½ cup sugar   
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard  
  • ¾ cup Wesson oil
  • 1 tbsp. salt   
  • 1 tsp. celery seeds
  • 1 cup cider vinegar

Instructions

Alternate layers of onion and cabbage with the ½ cup sugar.  Let sit overnight in the refrigerator. 

On the next day, bring the rest of the ingredients to a boil; pour over cabbage.  Refrigerate at least four hours.
