Pop's Mexican Dinner

This comes from my grandfather, Jim Collier.

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, chopped  
  • 2 cloves garlic, mashed
  • 2 lbs. ground meat  
  • 2 small cans tomato sauce
  • 5 ½ cans water   
  • 3 small cans tomato paste
  • 4 T. sugar   
  • 2 t. salt
  • 2 t. chili powder   
  • 2 t. accent
  • 2 t. oregano   
  • 2 t. cumin
  • Fritos  

For Garnish:    

  • chopped onion
  • chopped tomatoes  
  • avacodo
  • sour cream   
  • salsa
  • grated Sharp Cheddar Cheese 
  • shredded lettuce
  • jalapenos   
  • chopped olives

Instructions

Cook the onion, garlic, and ground meat.  Drain the fat, and add the tomato sauce, water, tomato paste, sugar, salt, chili powder, accent, oregano, and cumin.  Simmer for 1-2 hours, until cooked down to a thick sauce.  Simmer for 1 to 2 hours, until cooked down to a thick sauce.

To serve, line a large plate with Fritos.  Spoon on meat sauce to cover.  Add garnishes as desired.
