After FLYP'n it in Downtown Fresno early this evening, Kim and I headed out to Clovis for Creative Fresno's Blender at Pizza Fusion.
The restaurant was packed, but the Blender crowd seemed to be waning a bit, so Kim and I said a few hellos and took a seat at the bar. Since we didn't eat at Hero's, we ordered a couple of beers and settled on the goat cheese and tomato pizza.
It's important to note that Pizza Fusion isn't your typical pizza kitchen. The chain of restaurants is environmentally conscious; I overheard several conversations among patrons regarding the use of recycled blue jeans in the insulation. It's also impeccably clean, and the menu notes many items as gluten-free, vegan and/or organic. Okay, so it's good for you and good for the environment, but how does the pizza taste?
Again, it's not a typical pizza place. The crust is thin, the pizza is oblong, and the toppings don't contain pools of grease. But the flavors are fresh, and after licking the serving board we were able to consider dessert, which came at the suggestion of Sheila, our waitress. I have to admit that I was a skeptic, but gluten-free, vegan brownies are actually quite delicious (though they could be better with a little chocolate sauce).
Oh, and the beer. The beer is good. Kim loved the organic wheat beer; I thought it was okay, but I still wish I could purchase the black ale for home consumption. Good stuff.
Sitting at the bar, we also got to chat a bit with the owners, Mike and Debra. They're boomerangs (well, Mike is, at least) and told us about how they explored several business ideas before finding Pizza Fusion online. To the both of you: Thank you for opening your doors to the Blender, for bringing something different to the community, and for a great dinner!

I'm a huge fan of Pizza Fusion! Especially their Gluten Free Pizza!

I really like the "founders pie" at Pizza fusion on the whole wheat crust. Pair it with one of their organic red wines and call it dinner.
