Le Parisien Café and Bakery

Le Parisien Café and Bakery

Reviewed by alisamanjarrez on Apr 04, 2010

What's it like?

I was hesitant to brunch at Le Parisien this afternoon because my first crepe experience there was subpar. However, my family was looking for a light meal at a low cost to hold us over for a larger family meal later on in the day, so it was worth checking out. This time, I decided to try something new: the croque madame. Two slices of white bread, béchamel sauce (a light creamy white sauce), slices of ham, monterey jack cheese melted on the sandwich, with a fried egg on top. It was heavenly. The salad wasn't incredibly impressive but if you like creamy goodness, I'd highly recommend the croque madame. It's comparable to a monte cristo sandwich, except the bread isn't dipped in batter or fried. Less calories? :)

Le Parisien is perfect for a quick and easy meal and the girl that took our order was friendly and helpful. The café was practically empty, so our food was brought to us in a timely matter (can't speak for other times). The owners are French, and even though they weren't there to persuade me with their cool accents, I still hear the voices of the shiny pastries calling my name to come back and try the torte or chocolate eclair...and I'll probably have to give the nutella crepe a chance, too!

Very good. I pronounced my order in French and to my astonishment the lady understood me, because she was actually from France. As if that wasn't enough, the quality of sandwiches and pastries that I have enjoyed there (3 times so far) are a far cry from other wanna-be fancy lunch spots. Recognize!

I gave the nutella crepe a chance this past weekend, and let me just say one word: dangerous!

So, I took the family to Le Parisien this morning for breakfast, and I decided to try the Croque Monsieur. I really liked it, but reading this, I wish I had ordered the Croque Madame. Thanks for the tip -- I'll be there tomorrow...

Oh yeah, it's delish! The last time I was there I had the nutella and banana crepe for breakfast - rich and nutritious? ;-)
