Whole Farms Market & Cafe

What's it like?

If you're into raw, organic, vegetarian food, you'll probably be happy that Whole Farms has opened in Downtown Fresno. It's tiny, and my guess is that if you eat there regularly, you'll become tiny as well! I had the pad thai (it was about $6, I think), made from almond butter instead of peanut butter. No meat, and the noodles were kale noodles. It had a nice, semi-spicy flavor, but I bought some dried pears ($2.99 for a sandwich bag) as a side dish to make sure I wasn't going to be starving in the next hour! I went with four guys and they were not impressed with the portion sizes. Throughout most of our meal they suggested we should go to Cosmo's for burgers afterward.! I was surprisingly satisfied, though. Perhaps it was because I was sampling on all their other goodies, too?

Try the rocky road with the graham cracker crust. It tasted like fudge and apparently it's also healthy! They have a salad there that has 100% of your daily vegetable requirement. The Sun Burger (pictured above) has avocado, which means it's worthy a try. They were giving out samples of kefir (also pictured), which is a probiotic drink similar to kombucha but is non-fermented and tastes a little bit like beer (drink it for digestive purposes, not to replace beer).

Whole Farms is a nice healthy alternative for the downtown area. You'll feel better after eating something from there and the people are really nice too!

Where's Cosmos? Sounds good! I went there the other day and there food was really good. The food is really light but satisfying.

Cosmo's downtown. There's a full menu at http://cosmosfresno.com. Completely different category than a raw foods market :-)
