For years now, Geno's Sandwiches & Salads has been one of my favorite sandwich shops in Fresno. I am sure many who utilize TasteFresno often know of Geno's but it would be easy to miss if you didn't know it was around. Geno's is on the northwest corner of Blackstone & Ashlan. I had lunch there once again on Friday, and again I was not disappointed.
Good sandwiches are somewhat of a passion of mine and what truly sets a sandwich apart is the bread. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that if bread is what makes a sandwich for you, Geno's offer the best sandwiches in town. The sandwiches are priced higher than your Subway, Port of Subs etc. but the increase in price is well worth it.
Geno's is local and family owned and the service is very friendly. The shop is small but quaint. It can get pretty busy in there which can be frustrating at times but more times than not, if you can get there a bit before noon you won't have a problem. Lastly, it is important to mention that this is a lunch only restaurant. They are not open for dinner.

barry, i second everything u have to say about geno's. the bread is the best u will find, which definitely makes this the best in town. i've had a poem written about my love of sandwiches, and that love begins at geno's!

Geno's is good--and friendly, and can get crowded--I would put them in my top 3 sandwich shops in town--but, for me, their bread is a runner-up to the bread at Charlotte's Baketeria on Wishon in the Tower. Baked fresh daily, with a choice of Sourdough, Wheat (and Sourdough Wheat), herb, cheese, onion, olive and jalepena--I love the big slices and the freshness on the sandwiches--since I am mostly vegetarian (with an occasional In/Out lapse)--the veggie sandwiches are my Fresno favorite--and buying a fresh loaf (get it quartered so that it fits in your toaster)-is divine with soups and for dinner--Charlotte's closes at 4, and lunch time is busy in their small space, too--but, she rotates local art and it's Tower friendly...
