Pho 90

Reviewed by bradley on Nov 14, 2009

What's it like?

I'm such a believer in Pho 90. I have recently started to venture out and try other pho spots with my trusty pho sidekick, and will post those reviews as we visit.

Pho 90 offers a full menu of Vietnamese cuisine, but I have never been compelled to order anything but the pho. My favorite of the various meat combos is the #14 which features rare steak. I have sampled most of the other meat combinations (including the beef balls, uhhh, not my fav), and for the most part they are all delicious. The rare steak is my favorite and my usual. The tendon combos, as with any pho, present a texture challenge to me despite the tasty flavor it imparts.

The test of any pho is the broth, and I very much enjoy the fresh, bright taste here. The condiments are standard but good quality: the basil is always full leaves with buds, the jalapeños are fresh, limes are juicy, and the bean sprouts crunchy. Consistency is a key element for any restaurant to strive for, and Pho 90 has that nailed. Every element is always fresh, tasty and as expected.

The decor is sparse and unoffensive, the interior is clean for a pho spot, the service is ok but quick, and the prices are very reasonable.

I have never eaten pho but have been wanting to. I'd like to try take-out. What suggestions for a first timer? What's a good place here in Fresno?

Pho is great. I use to ONLY eat here, until others persuaded me to try some other places. It has been a while but they use to make the best fried bread, to be eaten with your Pho of course.
