I went to Bella Pasta tonight to have some of his great seafood paella (I've salivated over that one in an earlier review). To my surprise, they had another special, it was Ox tail, and it was perfect. Don't ask me how I ended up eating both, let's just say I have a lot of Paella left for lunch tomorrow.
The ox tail is served on the bone, cooked till the meat falls off, and braised. The meat is extremely tender and marbled (think of a rib-eye, not filet) and the flavor is exquisite. Four big pieces of tail were on the plate, yes there is pasta and salad, but I was fixated on the ox. After politely eating it with my fork and knife, I realized that there is a lot left on the bones, so I rolled up my sleaves and man handled my dinner. My prior experiences with ox tail were mostly in Ox-Tail soup, and frankly, most of the time, it is not tender. This preparation was perfect, and brought out the uinque flavor of the tail.
Fabian and his staff are great, they always take care of my kids, have an abundance of coloring books for them to play with, and kids always eat free.
What can I say, it's hard to beat.
