Wow, where to start. I think I will first start off by thanking James of Tastefresno.com for the gift certificate to Trelio. We wasted no time using it, and we are so glad we did. Second, Trelio is doing a great business, and I'm not just talking about the food. I called about 2pm for an evening reservation, and a few minutes later had my reso. booked for 7pm. We showed up a little early, being out first time there, were weren't sure what the atmosphere would be like, or if seating would be on time. We were actually seated as soon as we walked in with no wait. Great way to start a meal. Chris (whom I've never been formerly introduced to) quickly came up and introduced himself. We had a good conversation about the future of the service industry, and I was surprised when he mentioned my recently started business. It was apparent that Chris had done his homework about his guests (I'm sure I'm not the only one) and made for a great start to the meal.
We started dinner with a soup course, I had the Pumpkin Bisque, and my wife has the French Onion. Both soups were off the charts good, the bisque having a wonderful creamy texture, and the french onion extremely flavorful and cheesy. For our main courses, I had the Pork Tenderloin, and my wife had the chicken. Again, my words can't really express how good this meal was. The pork tenderloin was just that, tender. Much more so than I've had at other fine dining restaurants. My wife's chicken was also very flavorful and tender. Both were served with baby carrots and brussel sprouts (a welcome change to the typical broccoli). The pork was served on top of carmelized onions with a side of what I found out to be a type of grits, and baked apple. Again, everything was off the charts amazing.
We paired our whole meal with a nice bottle of pinot noir that Chris had chosen, and it suited the meal very well. All I can say is if you haven't been to Trelio, your missing out. It is certainly the best fine dining experience I've had in Fresno / Clovis and it will def. be my new go to spot for special occasions and anniversaries. (We used to go to Ripe Tomato for these occasions, but Trelio is a much better experience in my book).
Lastly, I think it's a fairly common expectation that Fine dining = tiny food. Ya know, the kind of dinner where you go there, eat, and then go find somewhere to have dinner... This is not Trelio. I'm a big guy and I was full by the end of the meal. They serve good portions (not to big, and not to little) which you will certainly be satisfied with. All the staff was extremely attentive and the head chef even came out to see how everything was.
We left very happy we had gone, and will def. be going back soon (Chris, our anniversary is in April, is it to soon to book our reservation now???)
