The person that introduced me to Thai Fusion (and the yum nua salad) also recommended B&K, explaining that they're owned by the same family. He also described the place: humble (to put it nicely) on the outside, in an older part of town, but with a parking lot full of nice cars (I think he said "Lexus and Mercedes").
I've driven across town just for the beef salad at Thai Fusion, but when a group from work wanted somewhere new to try, I suggested we find this place. As described, it's unassuming on the outside, but the parking lot was full, and with cars worth much more than my Jetta, no doubt. Inside it's pretty small, clean and simple.
The group agreed to eat family style, so we ordered much of what I've tried up north; namely, yum nua (Thai beef salad), chicken phad phet (red curry with bell peppers, bamboo and jalapenos) and pork phad thai (noodles in a sweet brown sauce). Best of all, one of my co-workers suggested the tom kai kow (not sure on the spelling, but it's a coconut milk soup with mushrooms, ginger and bamboo)—the flavor was amazing.
Service at either restaurant is great, and either is worth the price, though B&K might be a bit cheaper (I'm sure the rent is less expensive). If only I could stop myself from eating so much…

I wanted to take a colleague to lunch, and after confirming that she liked Thai food (and spice), we agreed on B&K.
I, of course, ordered the yum nua, spicy—I usually eat the medium-spiced version, but decided to stretch myself. Despite the burn, it's hard to put down the fork when this dish is on the table.
My colleague, on the other hand, has no fear of spice. No fear.
She ordered a shrimp stir-fry, asking the waitress to "make it as spicy as you can, and then double that." She insisted that she understood the consequences: sweating, runny nose, swelling of the face. After a bit of hesitation, the waitress agreed. Evidently, the dish still needed a hefty dose of Srirachi sauce to appease Dana's (numb?) taste buds, but she was quite complimentary of the meal. And as a recent transplant, she was happy to find another hole-in-the-wall.

As a recent transplant to Fresno I had yet to find "my" Thai place. Until today.
All I can say is: fantastic.
The coconut and chicken soup (I wish I remembered its real name) is fantastic, and the spicy seafood curry is the best seafood curry I've ever had.
I will be taking many a guest back to B&K. This is the kind of hole in the wall restaurant I love to find when I move to a new city.

My wife and I had lunch at the B-K today, urged on by an acquaintance and the comments above by Rob and Nick. What a treat! The coconut and chicken soup was indeed to die for and the phad thai was equally tasty. They know how to make great Thai ice coffee, too. The exterior and surroundings are definitely not imposing, and we would have probably just driven by oblivious to the place, earlier without trying it, but inside the delicious Lao-Thai food and great service, at a moderate, very reasonable price were superb! A long menu to sample, too. Yummy! Looking forward to '10 at B-K Asian Kitchen!

Gene, I'm glad to here you had a great experience! I'm consistently amazed by the food—next time, I recommend trying the chicken wings, and the yum nua (Thai beef salad).

I had the Shrimp Pad Thai there this week and it was delish! I was full but couldn't stop eating the entire plate. It was well worth the drive (far for me!) and I will definitely return.

I use to be a regular there a 2-3 times a week, and now I'm missing all that good foodz: yum nua, spicy fish, mango salad, chicken wings, phad thai, and more. Still trying to find something like that up here in Mpls/St. Paul area. Haven't really hit it yet.
