Joe's Steakhouse

Reviewed by jamescollier on Sep 13, 2008

What's it like?

Kim and I attended a mayoral forum on Thursday that focused on poverty. We decided to leave early to grab a bite before heading home, and since it was cool outside, we skipped Sushi Hana (one of our new favorites) for the walk to Joe's.

We've looked for dinner downtown several times, finding that Joe's is one of the only places to stay open after 6:00 p.m. (though perhaps this has changed in the last several months as new restaurants have opened). Still, there were only four other guests when we arrived, with a few others straggling in over the course of our meal.

The decor reminds me of a bar out in Texas were my grandfather hangs out, and might fit in better in Old Towne Clovis, but it's outweighed by the service (very friendly) and taste. Kim and I both had the Cowboy Burger (which they offer with a 1/4 lb. patty for those with smaller stomachs)—and next time I'll order the onion rings for myself, since she wouldn't share.
