I love Twitter. For those that know me offline, that's not a surprise, but lately it has really proven itself as a valuable resource. For example, a recent tweet pointed me to a new Peruvian restaurant in Riverpark.
Before I get carried away with a rave about how awesome Limón is, I must comment on its location: it's not my favorite. In fact, I've often commented that any restaurant or business that moves into the space that Limón now occupies should name itself "The Place Next to Hooters"—if you ever gave directions to Masala (while they were open), you know what I mean.
Okay, on to the good stuff…I've been raving about my experience for the last 24 hours. The restaurant is gorgeous; very spacious with crisp lines and a soothing color palette. And our server was professional, friendly, and fully aware of the menu, which I find is a must when a restaurant serves so many unfamiliar dishes. She explained to my guest and me that Peruvian cuisine places a heavy emphasis on flavor—not spice, necessarily, but rich flavor.
For lunch, I ordered a pork sandwich (I can't remember the name, but it was the first item on the lunch menu). Admittedly, I expected pulled pork, but the sandwich was made with a thick-cut pork chop, topped with thin-sliced sweet potato, lettuce, red onion and I believe fresh lime. It was served with fries covered in chimichuri (olive oil, garlic and parsley).
My guest ordered an appetizer that consisted of three beef skewers (again, the name escapes me). They were very heavily seasoned, and full of flavors I can't identify, but they were cooked to perfection. I didn't try the dipping sauce, but I did sample the Peruvian corn that garnished the plate, which is a conversation piece in itself. Pam also ordered a side of sauteed vegetables, which she was quite pleased with.
All in all: awesome. I literally can't wait to go back!

Wow-fries with Chimichurri! I understand your comment about location...Greg and I don't usually dine in that area either. But the food sounds awesome.
