North India Bar & Grill

What's it like?

After reading several positive reviews of North India Bar & Grill (including this one), I couldn’t resist a friend’s invitation to intrude join in on date night with his wife. Kim and I met them for dinner at 7:00 Saturday night.

I’ve heard that the building used to house a Mexican restaurant, but if that’s true, the owners of North India must have invested in a remodel. It’s beautiful inside—very clean and ornate. We were seated at a booth next to the bar area.

As we opened our menus, I was immediately thrown by the prices. Dinner entrees under $10 seems almost absurd; appetizers and desserts were under $5. Here’s what we ordered (we shared the meal, family style):

  • Assorted appetizer tray to start
  • Two kinds of naan bread
  • Chicken tikka masala
  • Chicken madras
  • Lamb biryani
  • ? (I can’t remember the name, but it was another entree)
  • Rice pudding and crème brulee for dessert
  • 4 Newcastles and a glass of house wine

All that for about $85 (including tax). What a deal! We’ll definitely be back.
