Eureka!Burger

What's it like?

The good
I like the fact that Eureka!Burger is not a chain. I like the creativity in the menu. Where else can you get a fig burger and beer icecream? The interior design and graphic design of the signage, logo and menu was very nice. It was modern and clean. The wait staff was friendly and the service was great. I really like that they use local ingredients and that they are environmentally conscience. Like I said on Twitter, the "most impressive aspect [of Eureka!Burger] is their to-go container."

The bad not so good
I ordered the Fresno Fig Burger and sweet potato fries. Honestly, the food was meh (just OK). It wasn't bad, it just wasn't really anything to rave about. I guess for $11.20 I expected something a little more. As mentioned in a comment on a previous post, the actual burger patty was pretty small. With a name like Eureka!Burger you'd expect a more substantial patty, right? I guess when you actually locate the patty you exclaim, "Eureka! Burger!"

This isn't to say I'll never go back. I have heard good things about their salads and I'd like to give that a try. It's hard to give a solid review after only one experience, so for now, the jury's still out.

I've been to Eureka 5 times now I believe. It's been PACKED everytime. Of the 5 times I've been, I've had great service 4 times and poor service once, but everytime I've REALLY enjoyed my food. It's the first restaurant that comes to mind right now if I'm craving an indulgent dinner out with the hubs. Those honey cinnamon sweet potato fries kind of just call my name.

We tried EB for the first time this afternoon. (Is 4pm late lunch or early dinner? I keep doing this.) Debbie had the lulu burger, and I had the fish tacos. Hers came with a mint aoli, and she was glad she asked for it on the side -- it had a sweetness that was not appealing to us (honey, maybe?). Her burger was good, and my tacos were excellent. She asked for ranch dressing for her onion rings (huge, by the way) and I felt that this dressing was the most interesting item for me. It was composed of mayo, sour cream, buttermilk, oregano, dill, and cayenne pepper. I'll be stealing that one for crab louies. Overall, a decent meal. Just not much to shout about. I need to give them another try with different dishes...
