Al's cafe is one of the best kept secrets in Fresno! Written up in Sunset Magazine several years ago as a place to stop, it is right off 99 on Olive Ave. and offers the best chile verde omelet you will ever eat! Not the traditional fare, since it is not green or pork - but Al's rendition is a classic favorite of mine. Try the huevos rancheros for a treat!
Lunch specials include catfish sandwich, burritos, tacos and great burgers. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmoooooooooooo!
Only open for breakfast and lunch, this cafe used to be downtown attached to a truck service station - so this location is much nicer (an old Wendy's).

I've been waiting for somebody to notice Al's. Absolutely heavenly food, and an ideal place to go for couples or groups that may or may not agree on Mexican food for lunch. Great variety of non-ethnic foods. All tasty.

This place is just OK. I would put it like this.. They have EXCELLENT white-washed mexican food. They cater mostly to truckers and the lunch crowd.
I will give them this.. LARGE PORTIONS HERE. Bigger folk often seen eating here (no offense, I was fluffy once).
