Cuca's

Reviewed by Natali on Nov 06, 2009

What's it like?

Tried Cuca's along with Taste Fresno member Kim for lunch on the recommendation of a few others.  We were told it was a great place for authentic Mexican food.  We met a little later in the lunch hour, but there were still quite a few people eating there when we arrived- seemed to be a fairly popular place.  I always look forward to the chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants, however I didn't find Cuca's chips to be particularly outstanding, and the salsa was VERY mild.  I prefer to have a hot and a mild salsa, so you can mix to your preference.  I ordered a lunch special combo plate (two items for $7.95), and the enchilada and shredded beef taco were good.  The rice was too.  Kim was please with her "James burrito" as well.  After eating, we both agreed that while the food was good, it wasn't anything extradinarily different or unique, but we would definitely eat there again.

Perhaps you went to the wrong Cuca's? I agree, the one on Olive (Tower District) is not as good or authentic as the one on F Street (Chinatown). Only a few tables a trucker seats, but tasty mexican food.
