Its a pickle jar of a room jammed with people, a fish tank, TV, newsprint-topped tables, and mounted cakes displaying the latest Pokemon figurines knee-deep in frosting.
Try the Vietnamese sandwich: for $3 you get a little hoagie swathed in wax paper and a rubber band. A smear of red chili sauce, pickled carrot, cucumber, jalapeño, and radish spears with lots of fresh cilantro, a thin slab of peppery pork and a little pâté. All on a warm and crunchy baguette. For $2.50 more you can get a slice of the coconut cake ($0.50 more than its fruity counterparts) in a little plastic to-go case. The cake is a beautiful minty green, with generous chunks of coconut meat and a whip cream frosting.
It's not a place to sit and unwind (although they do have a couch), and the service is hit-or-miss as English is not the first language. But the food is what I'm after, and Queen Sandwich & Cake is another great example of the humble feast bestowed upon our Valley. Eat in gratitude for the collision of nations that has brought us the Vietnamese sandwich and its coconut cake counterpart. Yum!

I love viet sandwiches. They also have them at May Cafe, by the way, I say.
