I'm a boomerang from Oakland (only gone for a year), I love Burgers, love my hometown (go Fresno!), and have been searching for a good Local Burger Joint. I like fancy gourmet burgers and drive-in/fast food burgers. Both are wonderful. Triangle was one of a couple of recommendations for the fast food variety.
First of all, I loved the drive to Triangle. Being in the District, then by the zoo, and then along the cemetery - really brought back some memories. I don't know how, after 23 years of living here, I missed this place. I knew I was in for a treat driving up to it's unique shape. I love the outside seating here - very funky. The inside is also a visual treat - very throwback with lots of cool Coca-Cola memorabilia. The service was prompt and friendly. They have an obvious regular crowd, many people known by name, but we didn't feel like outsiders.
Then there is the Food. Ohhhhh, the Food! My hubby and I ordered the same thing - Jumbo Cheeseburger Combo. It comes with a fries and drink - hubby upgraded to a shake for only 90 cents. The Jumbo Cheeseburger was wonderful. It wasn't fancy - just an old fashioned, fast food style, yummy cheeseburger. It had crisp pickles, a ripe tomatoe, fresh red onions, and a "secret sauce" on a non-greasy patty. It was Fantastic! And the Fries!!! Very basic - but crisp and hot. My hubby loved his chocolate shake. (Okay - I had some to and really liked it.) Our whole meal - including a little something for the tip jar - was 15 bucks.
Another thing that won me over is the Triangle's location. I love going to the zoo but don't like the food prices inside. This can be a stop before hand - another treat on the zoo trip. I'm still searching for a place to satisfy that fancy, bacon, avocado, bleu cheeseburger craving. However, now I know where to go to satisfy my fast food burger cravings. The price is right, the food is good, and I can avoid chains. Priceless.
