Walkable. I liked that aspect. New. I was up for an adventure. Thai. Really jonesin' for a new spot.
They seem to have pretty full menu and the Thai Iced Tea was pretty legit; however, the other dished we had were not that exciting. I think the place might get better over time and for the price it was a lot of food (read: value). The service was great. They were very attentive and fast. It didn't hurt that we were the only ones in the place.
I will try it again. The ambiance is fine for lunch, but it would be nice to dress it up a little for dinner. Seem like a great place to meet co-workers or friends for lunch. The food hit the table quickly.

Fair assessment. I've been about half a dozen times now - mostly for lunch - and the menu is hit and miss. Each curry I've had I've enjoyed, and some of them are offered in the rotating special for $4.99. The phad thai and soups, on the other had, I wouldn't order again.

My favorite thing is the pepper steak with beef (you have to choose your meat with the pepper steak, oddly enough). The sticky rice is okaaay. I'm happy about having another thai option downtown, but it's really not worth the drive if you're not already nearby. I'm pretty likely to go back several times mostly because of proximity to work (and play).

Is that where Ribs and Tips used to be?

Yes, and from what Travis said, the decor is exactly the same, except for the Thai king on the wall.

The dirtiness of the restaurant was a turn-off, and the fact that the open kitchen door blocked access to the teeny little bathroom (I had to shimmy by). But the broccoli tofu was awesome, especially as leftovers, and T is right, they offer really good, fast service. I might try it for lunch (takeout), but really, I can think of 10 other places I'd rather go.
Oh yea, what the heck was up with that strange, runny peanut sauce? That had to have been a fluke...

I'm probably in the minority here, but sometimes I want something dingy and divey. We've seen how good bright and clean does in the neighborhood...

Yeah, I think that Environmental Health field trip wasn't such a good idear. Divey/dingy will never quite be the same for me!

Went there the other evening for dinner and I thought it was pretty good, but I'd say it's probably a little less authentic than other Thai places in town. The peanut sauce was a little unorthodox and the chicken satay, while good, was more like a kebab and less like the satay I am used to. The pad thai was also good, but again, a little different. The fried banana for dessert was probably the best part of the meal and was at least on par with other restaurants if not better.
It seemed like you got a nice portion of food for your money and the service was good. I was not repelled by the decor or the dingy quality. It wasn't the most pleasing or bright and shiny atmosphere, but nothing too distracting.
I will probably be back when I'm in the area, but I can't see myself making a special trip.

I have taken my walking tours to Cozy Thai after trying it the week it opened. All our visits have been outstanding!
The Pepper Beef was outrageously delicious, the vegetarian plate was awesome. I loved the mix of unusual mushrooms so much I had a chat with the chef that day; Gee.
On the last tour visit we got the beef again and then they surprised us with a salad that was very unique. Everyone at the table could not stop talking about it! One walker commented "its a party in my mouth"......
There have been some comments about the cleanliness and ambiance. From the first visit I have never smelled, seen or detected anything that would lead me to believe they have a problem. Is it old and in need of some remodeling? yes. I believe that may be what James was referring to in saying a dive that he enjoys.
If you want to see a real dive and truly abysmal state of non-cleanliness... go to the Luau on Fulton then we can talk.
